Product Description

Industrial Colorless High Purity Gases CAS 124-38-9 Non - Flammable

Description:

Carbon Dioxide is a compound of carbon and oxygen in proportions by weight of about 27.3
percent carbon to 72.7 percent oxygen.

A gas at normal atmospheric temperatures and pressures, Carbon Dioxide is colorless, odorless and about 1.5 times heavier than air.

Carbon Dioxide may exist simultaneously as a solid, liquid and gas at a temperature of -69.9°F (-56.6°C)
and a pressure of 60.4 psia (4.16 bar), its triple point. The concentration of Carbon Dioxide in the
earth’s atmosphere by volume is 0.033%. Carbon Dioxide is principally shipped and used in
gaseous, liquid or solid form for food processing, carbonation of soft drinks, inserting, welding,
lasers, shrink fitting of machinery parts, fire extinguishers, growth stimulant for plant life and
laboratory R & D.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are available for Carbon Dioxide and should be used as guidelines in regard to first aid, methods of storage, handling and general use of Carbon Dioxide.

Chemical Properties
colourless odourless gas

General Description
An odorless, white solid. Can cause damaging frostbite. Noncombustible and nontoxic. Liquefies at -109°F. Can asphyxiate by displacement of air. Used as a refrigerant.

Air & Water Reactions
Water soluble. Forms carbonic acid, a mild acid in water

Fire Hazard
Non-flammable gases. Containers may explode when heated. Ruptured cylinders may rocket.
